I can’t believe I made this recipe on one try and it actually worked out. The Heartbeet Burger is beety and a tad bit spicy. Of course, it’s not a typical veggie burger so I wouldn’t add the standard ketchup-mustard-pickle scenario (unless of course you want to), but I would add something complimentary like spicy mayo, arugula, spicy micro greens, etc. After eating this burger, I felt great and energized. It will give you the fuel that you need, without having to eat meat. I made this recipe with an egg (yes, it’s considered dairy-free), but subbing with a flax egg could probably work if you are a vegan. I haven’t tried it, but if you do let me know! 😉 Anyway, enjoy the recipe! xxx
How can the Heartbeet Burger give you energy in replacement of meat?
This burger is full of plant-based nutrients. The beets contain plenty of fiber and folate (extra good for pregnancy). They also contain manganese, potassium, and vitamin C. The protein in this recipe of course comes from the egg, but also the combination of the grain (oats) and beans (aduki). When grains and beans are put together, it can be digested more easily as a protein. The tahini is full of healthy fats and the spices (specifically turmeric) are anti-inflammatory. The mustard contains calcium, copper, as well as providing a little extra kick to the burger. If you’re looking for energy without having to eat animal protein than this burger is for you.Print
